Anderson & Associates, Inc. has recently welcomed Daniel Hobson in their Greensboro office as Junior Party Chief in survey and Jacque Zook as the firm’s new Environmental intern.

Dewberry has hired Samuel (Sam) Nye, P.E., as a project manager in the firm’s Raleigh office. Mr. Nye will support Dewberry’s growing telecommunications service by guiding staff through project design, preparing wireless facility design and permit documents, coordinating client design reviews, managing sub-consultants, and tracking project schedules and progress. Mr. Nye brings more than 11 years of experience in the engineering industry. Most recently, he was an engineering manager at an infrastructure engineering firm specializing in wireless communications. There, he led a staff of engineering professionals while managing telecommunications projects for multinational telecommunications companies across the U.S. He has designed new tower builds, colocations, relocations, equipment upgrades, in-building distributed antenna systems (DAS), and outdoor small cells, as well as various solar energy projects. Mr. Nye has also been involved in single family, townhome, apartment, and commercial land development projects. Mr. Nye received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. He is certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveyors (NCEES), has entry-level certification with the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), has a level I iBWave certification, and is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Dewberry has hired Daniel (Dan) Southwick, P.E., as senior vice president in the firm’s Raleigh office. Mr. Southwick will be responsible for enhancing and diversifying the firm’s telecommunications capabilities, presence, and services throughout the nation. In this role, Southwick will expand upon the firm’s 20 years of telecommunications engineering experience by bringing full turnkey solutions to industry clients, including project management, site acquisition, surveying, design, and construction. Before Dewberry, Mr. Southwick was the chief operating officer at Velocitel, an infrastructure engineering firm specializing in wireless communications. He spent six years overseeing full turnkey services and leading the firm’s construction, project management, engineering, site acquisition, and regulatory compliance offerings. He helped grow the long-term evolution (LTE), universal mobile telecommunications systems (UMTS), distributed antenna systems, and small-cell sites of a variety of major multinational telecommunications companies. Mr. Southwick earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo.
